Horizontal Top Spot
and
Horizonal Bottom Spot
commonly used for banners - the most common type of advertisement on the web. They usually fit at the very top or very bottom of the webpage, and do not interrupt any content.
Vertical Left Spot
and
Vertical Right Spot
are most often used for skyscrapers. These ads reside in the margins to the sides of the webpage's content.
Select file formats you accept on your ad space
.gif (animated picture)
.jpeg (standard image format)
.swf (Flash)
.swf (Expandable Flash)
.swf (Floating Flash)
.gif
(Graphics Interchange Format)
- This type of image has a maximum of 256 colors and is good for basic animations and small pictures. It is not recommended for high quality photos.
.jpeg
(Joint Photographic Experts Group)
- This compression scheme for images is likely the most common image file used on the web. Although JPEGs can greatly reduce the size of an image, some of the image's quality will be lost. It cannot be used to create animated images. Most of your ad media will probably be created in the JPEG format.
.swf
(ShockWave Flash)
- Macromedia's vector-based animation for the web. Flash animations are considerably more complex than what can be made with GIFs. The file sizes are larger than those created as GIFs or JPEGs, but end result - very impressive, eye-catching animation -- is often worth it.
Expandable Flash
- A Flash ad that expands over website content if the user rolls over or clicks on the ad with the mouse.
Floating Flash
- A Flash ad that floats over content until it times out or is closed by the user.

Choose an ad size that is the best fit for the location of the ad space and the content in your webpage. The most common horizontal banner sizes are 468 x 60 and 728 x 90. The most common vertical skyscraper sizes are 120 or 160 x 600. Skyscrapers should
not
be used for horizontal spots and banners are the
wrong
choice for vertical spots. Buttons or rectangles can be used for all types of spots.
Make sure you have space available before finishing your campaign setup!
